There are many advertisements directed at children such as snacks, toys and other goods. Parents argue that children are under pressure. Advertisers claim that the advertisements provide useful information. What is your opinion?
Nowadays, there are lots of advertisements on television or on the streets.
Accordingly, whether the merits of advertising outperform its demerits has brought about great concern.
Some assert that advertising not only boosts the sales of goods but also offers us a variety of choices whereas opponents maintain that it spurs people to buy unnecessary things.
As for me, I am in favor of the former one.
To begin with, advertising introduces to us a great number of goods and thus will save our time and energy spent in shopping.
With the advent of the mass media, more and more companies tend to promote their latest goods through TV, radio and Internet.
Therefore, when we turn on TV, we may see various kinds of commercials from washing powder (super white) to health food, from shampoo to modern cars.
As most ads are elegantly made with a purpose of showing their products in a typical and creative way, the audience can have a full and direct understanding about many products within several seconds.
And then it will be easy for them to make a comparison and a final decision after knowing what this product is and whether it meets their demands.
Furthermore, the advertising plays an indispensable role in pushing forward the overall consumption of the customers.
As we may see, there do exist a large number of advertisings, in which the products are so fascinating, either with their gorgeous appearance or high quality, that a lot of audience may turn into their customers later.
Thanks to the magic power of these ads, more and more people withdraw a sum of money from their bank accounts to become the proud owner of those attractive products.
With this trend going on, the consumer market continuously gets developed at an amazing speed.
However, every sword has two edges. We have to admit that the advertising do bring, to some extent, some negative effects on the consumers, especially those children who do not know clearly what they need.
In order to improve the sales record of their products, many advertising companies incline to invite famous stars to become their spokesperson, such as Roger Federer for Gillette and Yaoming for Reebok.
As a result, with the widespread influence of these stars, the public, especially the youngsters, may be easily trapped into buying goods that their favorite stars advertise, despite their unfamiliarity with them.
But fortunately, most teenagers have a limited amount of disposal income.
Besides, most parents are carefully monitoring their behaviors so that it is unlikely for them to waste time on some unnecessary things.
In conclusion, the advertising does have some adverse effects on those adolescents.
However, I was convinced that its benefits outperform its drawbacks.
Therefore, it is recommended that we further develop the advertising industry while put forward more rules and regulations to better check its contents.
