The bar chart reflects the number of patent granted to residents and non-residents in four countries namely, the USA, Japan, Brzail and kenya in 1999 (thousands as unit, moreover the number of patents in wealthier were overwhelming greater than that in poorer nations) and the line graph illustrates the trends of worldwide patend applications from 1985 to 1990, and the whole trend was increasing over this period.(millions as unit)
